Book your OEUK Medical today at our Aberdeen Clinic

Offshore Energy UK Medicals (OEUK) were formerly known as Oil and Gas UK Medicals (OGUK) and are a requirement if you wish to work in the offshore energy industry.  OEUK ask their employees to maintain a high standard of health and fitness, and will need you to provide a certificate to prove you meet these standards.  The only way to obtain an OEUK certificate is to undergo an assessment, administered by an OEUK registered doctor.

Book your OEUK medical to ensure you meet the required guidelines to safely undertake your role in an offshore environment.  Your OEUK Medical certificate will be valid for two years, and the medical includes a health screening questionnaire and a full medical examination by an OEUK registered Doctor.

OGUK Medical FAQs

What’s the difference between an OGUK Medical and an OEUK Medical?

There is no difference between an OGUK medical and an OEUK medical. OGUK stands for Oil and Gas UK, who are the leading representative body of the offshore energy industry in the UK. However, OGUK have recently rebranded to Offshore Energy UK (OEUK), meaning that OGUK medicals are now sometimes known as OEUK medicals instead.

What is involved in an OGUK Medical?

An OGUK medical is a full health and fitness assessment, to determine where somebody is fit to work in an offshore energy environment. An OGUK medical includes:

  • Comprehensive health screening
  • Drug and alcohol testing
  • Medical History questionnaire
  • Physical examination by an OGUK registered doctor or physician

How do you get an OGUK Medical?

You will need to make an appointment for an OGUK medical with a local clinic. Your prospective or current employer may do this on your behalf, but if you’re searching for an offshore energy position, you may need to book the OGUK medical yourself.

How long does an OGUK Medical take?

The length of time an OGUK medical takes can vary, but the average appointment takes around 45 minutes to 1 hour. However, this may not include time spent filling out the required paperwork or any pre-screening health questionnaires.
