Onshore Medic

We are currently recruiting onshore Emergency Response Medics. This position is based in the North East of England.  The working days are Monday to Friday.

The Medic will act as the primary source of emergency medical response for any personnel who are suffering from significant illness or injury. They will be capable of exercising appropriate and competent medical skills in the event of an injury or acute illness, providing advice and consulting with topside and local NHS authorities as required.

  • Provide on-site emergency medical care to all personnel during prescribed working hours.

  • Ensure compliance with the client’s current health, safety and environmental practices and procedures.

  • Maintain accurate patient medical records and ill health/incident reporting in accordance with MCL Medic’s Medical Standard Operation Procedures (MSOP’s).

  • Provide initial emergency response, resuscitation and stabilisation of critically ill or injured (trauma) patients utilising ALS/ATLS emergency medical protocols.

  • Communicate and provide details to the Topside Doctor and local NHS services for the management and treatment of personnel providing appropriate referral documentation for injured or ill personnel requiring local NHS services support.

  • Liaise with terminal security and senior management to arrange safe transfer to local NHS services utilising local ambulance response.

  • Maintain and control adequate stocks of emergency medical equipment supplied by MCL Medics.

  • Operate all medical emergency equipment supplied in accordance with MSOP’s. Conduct a regular functional check and keep a record of weekly checks.

  • Support terminal management in the planning of emergency procedures to ensure an appropriate first-line medical response to an emergency situation.

  • Conduct non certificated first aid training with the First Aiders including casualty handling as required.

  • Assess and maintain all first aid equipment and eye wash stations throughout the terminal on a monthly basis and maintain accurate records.

  • Follow prescribed temperature screening protocol for the client, informing senior management of any identified pyrexia within members of the workforce.

Key Roles

  • Competent in resuscitation procedures, including thrombolysis and the use of available ECG and monitoring devices
  • Competence in the communications protocol with the topside emergency doctor service
  • Knowledge of local emergency response (multi-casualty/major injury or illness/death) including competence in applying triage, arranging emergency treatment areas and medevac procedures
  • Knowledge of, and ability to use the MCL Medics IT system
  • Ability to supervise first aiders and provide regular first-aid training
  • Ability to make informed decisions within the bounds of accountability, taking into account external factors, such as weather conditions and accessibility to local NHS emergency medical services

Essential Qualifications

  • Nursing, Paramedic or Military Qualifications
  • NMC if Registered Nurse
  • HCPC if Paramedic
