Occupational Health Nurse, Barrow

Support Operations to ensure worker health protection by conducting routine occupational health assessments, health surveillance screening, health education and promotion under the directions and supervision of MCL Medics’ Occupational Health team.

Provide advice and support to managers and HR in all matters related to sickness absence; coordinating where appropriate referrals on to support services.

Researching, developing and delivering health promotion activities to the requirements of the client’s site.

Ensuring compliance of all regulatory and legislative requirements associated with the delivery of occupational health and support service at the client’s site.

Ensuring a thorough audit process that staff and contractors have appropriate HAVS management systems in place. Ensuring through audit process that staff and contractors have appropriate Manual Handling management systems in place

Review and update of OH related procedures

Undertaking DSE risk assessments and providing the client’s line management and HR with comprehensive reports.

Overseeing onsite drug and alcohol screening, when required by the business, for ‘with Cause’ and post incident events.

Ensuring that the clinic room is properly maintained and cleaned; including the safe removal of clinical waste.

Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records on secure database.

Ensuring that all confidential medical records comply with relevant workplace legislation including the General Data Protection Regulations; Human Rights Act 1998 and Access to Medical Records Act 1988.

Arranging appropriate maintenance of clinic equipment; regular inspection, annual calibration etc. and that all records relating to this are kept and stored accordingly. Acting, always, in accordance with the NMC Professional Practice and Code of Conduct.

Experience / qualifications required (Essential)

  • NMC Registered Nurse (Adult), with at least three years' post-graduation experience, who appear on the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) register, and have a suitable portfolio of post registration experience or:

  • HAVS Awareness
  • Skin Surveillance awareness
  • Respiratory health surveillance awareness
  • COSHH Awareness
  • Noise Awareness
  • DSE Assessor
  • Manual Handling Assessor
  • Competent in resuscitation procedures
  • Computer skills (Microsoft, excel etc or similar)

MCL Medics are currently recruiting for an Occupational Health Nurse for a project in Barrow. This role is based on a 40 hour week including the option to work within a hybrid model with 1 day on site.

The post holder will drive the delivery of the occupational health standards and processes within our client’s site. Ensuring that statutory obligations are met and that standards of health are maximised.
