Healthy Eating Week – 28th September

The British Nutrition Foundation’s (BNF) healthy eating week takes place annually from 28th September to 4th October.  BNF celebrates and encourages healthy eating for everyone and the aim of this year’s healthy eating week is to focus on key health information and to promote healthy eating habits.

Studies show that the type of food we eat may affect both our physical and mental health and wellbeing.  Eating a healthy nutritious diet with lots of vegetables may be connected to feelings of wellbeing.

Are you up for the challenge?

The BNF have set the health challenges for the week and are encouraging everyone to take part.

  • Monday – Eat more wholegrains – Have at least one wholegrain option with any meal (e.g. whole grain bread, brown rice)
  • Tuesday – Vary your veg – Eat as many different types of vegetables as you can – go for five a day!
  • Wednesday – Drink plenty – Stay hydrated by drinking up to 8 unsweetened drinks a day
  • Thursday – Move more – Get moving, and get active every day
  • Friday – Be mind kind – Be kind to your mind and mental wellbeing, talk to someone if you have a problem
  • Saturday – Get active together – Get together with family friends and get active
  • Sunday – Eat together – Have fun cooking and eating together with family and/or friends
